With the release of MAKEDAMSKO, we celebrate the ten-year anniversary of ‘Klezmagic’. In this album, we have combined Balkan and Klezmer music in our own authentic way. Let us take you on a festive journey across the Balkan: from Bulgarian and Jewish weddings, through Macedonian songs of love and gypsy nights, towards the coasts of Greece and Turkey.
We constructed the album title MAKEDAMSKO from a combination of our hometown, Amsterdam (often referred to as ‘Damsko’), and ‘Makedonsko Devojče’, a song of ours that refers to Macedonia – the place from which our music originates and the centre of the Balkan. Some may find it unusual to blend these two completely different terms, but for us this name represents who we are and what we stand for : We like to throw parties where we turn the place upside down, Balkan Style!
